25 Ways To Wear A Scarf


A scarf is a piece of fabric. It could be square or rectangular or long and can be in various fabric textures like cotton, chiffon, silk, pashmina, wool, etc. The scarf originated in Rome where this piece was used as a sweat cloth in hot weather. Soon women started using scarves as a fashionable accessory. Scarves and stoles can be worn in multiple ways and can never get outdated. They are in fashion always and enhance the outfit worn to be a stylish one. They have become a symbol of classicism and elegance. Wearing a scarf is a piece of art and if worn in the right manner over an outfit, you can become the cynosure of all eyes.

There are 25 ways to wear a scarf and they are as follows:-

  1. Wrap Style: Fold the scarf to form a triangle and drape it over your shoulder evenly on both sides.
  2. Cross Over Style: Roll the scarf and drape one side straight. Take the other end and drape it over the shoulder.
  3. Classic Style: Roll the scarf and place it evenly over the shoulder so that the edges fall straight in the front to form an inverted U.
  4. Double Rainbow Style: Take a reversible scarf that has two different colors on each side. Drape one edge straight down. Take the other edge around the neck and bring it back onto the opposite side of the shoulder. Fold the hanging edges inside out to show contrast color.
  5. Turtleneck Style: Let one edge fall straight down and take the other edge around the neck three times. Tuck the remaining bit inside the folds. Tuck the other hanging side also inside the folds.
  6. Knotted Style: Wear the scarf straight down over your shoulder. Take both edges and knot it up. Turn the fabric to form one big loop and slip it over your head so that it forms two layers. Tuck the knot on the back inside the scarf folds.
  7. Bunny Ear Style: Take one side of the scarf over the shoulder and the other side around your neck twice. Pull out the edge from under the folds. Pull the other edge of the scarf through the folds inside out to form two big ears that look like a bunny rabbit’s ear.
  8. European Loop Style: Take the scarf and fold it half to form a loop. Take it around your neck and bring out the edges through the loop.
  9. Basic Loop Style: Take the scarf over your shoulder and drape the other edge around your neck and bring it to the front. Take that edge through the loop around the neck to form another loop through which the other edge can come out.
  10. Boa Style: Take one side of the scarf over the shoulder. The other side should be twisted to form a rope and taken around the neck and tucked in. Similarly the first side that is hanging is also twisted and taken around the neck and tucked in.
  11. Men’s Tie Style: Drape the scarf over the shoulder. Take one side over the other and repeat this once more. Now take the edge of the scarf and bring it out through the loop and insert it between the two circles. Now you can push the knot up to set the style.
  12. Celebrity Style: Take one side of the scarf over the shoulder. Take the other side around your neck twice and pull the edge inside out. The other edge that is outside is also taken inside out.
  13. Waterfall Style: Take one side of the scarf over the shoulder. Take the other side twice round the neck and pull the edge from inside out in such a manner that the other edge that is hanging gets covered under it.
  14. X Style: Drape the scarf over the shoulder. Cross over the scarf to form X shape. Now take the edges behind and pull it through the loop.
  15. Braid Style: Double the scarf and take it around the neck. Through the loop, pull out one edge. Twist it over and make a loop so that the other edge also comes out like a braid.
  16. Hidden Knot Style: Take one side of the scarf over the shoulder. Bring the other end round the neck to the front. Form a knot and pull the material over the knot so that it is not shown outside the scarf.
  17. Magic Style: Drape the scarf one side and take the other side around the neck. Make a loop from the circle formed and pull out the first edge.
  18. Twist and Pull Style: Wear the scarf one side and take the other side round the neck. Form a loop from the hanging side and pull out the other edge through it to form a knot.
  19. Western Wrap Style: Fold the scarf to form a triangle. Drape it from front and take the edges behind to tie the knot.
  20. Decorative Style: Let the scarf drape onto one side. Take the other side and form a loop and attach a broach or a flower and through the loop, pull out the other edge.
  21. Fake Knot Style: Take the scarf over the shoulder on one side. Take the other round the neck twice and cross over the edges twice to form a knot.
  22. Rope Style: Take one side of the scarf over the shoulder. The other side should be twisted and taken round the neck twice and the edge is taken out from behind. Similarly the hanging edge is taken behind through the loop to give a rope like effect.
  23. Shell Roll Style: Drape the scarf one side and the other side is taken round the neck thrice and tucked in. The fabric is slightly spread so that the hanging edge is covered inside the shell like structure. This is generally done when the scarf is long.
  24. Crushed Style: Roll the scarf to crush it completely. When it starts to twist, fold into half and drape it round the neck and pull out the edges through the loop formed.
  25. Bag Style: Tie a fancy knot over a hand bag using your scarf or make a fancy bow with it.
